DC Locals! Speak up!
Jan. 3rd, 2005 11:58 amDC peeps!
I have two similar info requests.
First: mom is coming to visit for four days. She's never been to DC and I know almost nothing about the city. I'd like to know:
what are your favorite museums? why? (like what to see at the smithsonian, maybe)
your favorite neighborhoods? shops? sights? why?
restaurants! holy crap, where do we eat? Fuddruckers is OUT...fun suggestions?
where would YOU take your mom? and of course...why?
FYI, she's NOT a tourist type atall, so no kitschy stuff. We're both liberal city dwellers, not particularly intimidated by new experiences, and want to take one or two afternoons exploring the District's best offerings.
Number two: after mom leaves, I have two great European pals visiting me. I want to show them stuff, too, but of a little different flavor. Okay, maybe a lot. We're all dykes (ummmm...DUH), and not really interested in hanging out in shopping malls, if you know what I mean. We'll hit museums and stuff, of course, but if you know edgier or more queer or other funky things we might like, tell me! (and please, no "Dupont Circle is gay!" suggestions. I know that one already, thanks :)
Bring it on!
(p.s. to my fave amerikan ex-pat in Poland...G and F are coming here, omg I am sooooo excited! call my house phone and let me know how to get ahold of you so we can chat soon)
